And the Winner is…

Part III

Joshua 8

3 Reasons of Defeat:

1. Going ahead of the commanding officer
– Joshua decided on his own strategy, not on GOD’s

2. Too much confidence in self

3. Someone had a secret agenda

“You cannot stay where you are, and go with God”

Joshua 7:2
(The Lord was no longer angry, after His children decided for themselves)

Lesson 1:
The battle is not won by the strong, but by the weak who call on God for power.

Lesson 2:
God knows when we need to be strengthened.

Lesson 3:
God knows when we need to be encouraged.

“When integrity’s compromised, when we lose our desire for worship, it’s hard to regain lost ground.”

Joshua 8:1
(God encouraging Joshua that he still has God’s blessing, to win the battle)

“It is not what you don’t know that gets you into
trouble. It’s what you know for sure, that just ain’t so.” [Mark Twain]

Lesson 4:
Whatever you do for God, do it with detail— if you want to be a winner and regain lost ground.

-God is very detailed when He gives His instructions, up to becoming technical.

During the battle, God commanded Joshua, not to fight, and stand on a high ground instead.

“There is a time when God will reveal to you, but only at a time of prayer.”

Those times when we are best at something, yet, we have to stand back and do intercession, while someone else- may not be as good- has to do the battle.

THE Voice

One big reason why I prefer watching The Voice to American Idol is the apparent emphasis on genuine talent. People don’t need to wait in that excruciating line just to have an audience guffaw over people’s generic definition of talent.

Coaches are not judges. The difference is the former are to have their seats facing opposite the stage, where pre-screened talents, who were selected through the AVRs they submitted, are to sing their chosen piece. Any of the four coaches can press their buzzers. Seats turn to face the stage, if the coaches want the singer to be in their team. If two or more coaches buzzed, they market themselves, and the talent will have his or her pick.

It is always that road in life that is less taken, which only few choose to trek. Marginal ones, if all must say. They are contradictory individuals as the world would define, but they are just positively different. They understand everyone, but only few of everyone, understand them.

NOW, who doesn’t love that?

Peter and John

Amazingly strange, and amazing, how in the book of Acts, two names of the disciples were mentioned, with emphasis on their last names. Simon, whose surname is Peter (Simon Peter) and John, whose surname is Mark (John Mark). The former is referred to as Peter, when being mentioned in the scripture, while the latter is referred to as John.

Possibly though, Peter is called or mentioned by his last name because Jesus gave him this name.

Today is Here, Tomorrow Not

What is up with the “act your age” cliché? So long as we are not doing anything at the expense of others, taking life too seriously is fatal.

(what made Joshua, and his army, a winner)

God places the heaviest of burden, to those, who can carry it
-Reggie White-

Joshua 1:6
(Comfort to continue on…)
– context makes it apparent, that Joshua is not the strongest, whose skills is unparalleled.

Exodus 3:8
(We’re not meant to just wander. We are to go somewhere. )

Exodus 17:11
(how it wasn’t all about the strategies of the whole army nor of how strong the were..)

Vision is the art of seeing the invisible.

God helps those who help themselves first.
TRUTH: God helps, those who are helpless.

Do things, FOR GOD.

How you know you can be strong:

1. Find strength in your distinct call
Joshua 1:9

2. Find your strength in God being with you
Philippians 4:8

“When things should get better and better, they stand still”

John 10:10
(Jesus coming to bring life so we may have it at its fullest)

Have we asked God how we can become better at who we are?

1. Forward your life
– follow the ark

-mentioned in Joshua 3 several times.

One reason why people are not enthused about change is because the unknown is fearful.

A lot of times, “Career is pursued at the expense of character.”

Colossians 3:23
(Always remember, it’s all about God- working through us.)

2. Anchor the Future

Its easy to succeed, but it’s about staying successful and it’s easy to win, but it’s about staying a winner.

1 Thessalonians 5:11
(Encourage one another)

3. Circumcise your hearts
– you are only rich when you have something money cannot buy

• money can buy food, but never an appetite.
• money can buy things, or take us to places, but never a lasting happiness.
. money can buy great beds, but never sleep.

1 John 2:15
Pride in our achievements & possessions, are from the world- not from the Father

    *Cost and Worth*

Colossians 3:5
Greediness of the good things in life

1. Learn to say NO to the offers of the world.

2. Choosing LET GO of anything that does not bring us closer to the Lord.

“Enjoy things, without having to own them and shun anything, that distracts us from seeking first the kingdom of God.”

Matthew 16:24
If you try to save your lives, you lose our souls.

Luke 12:13
