Peter and John

Amazingly strange, and amazing, how in the book of Acts, two names of the disciples were mentioned, with emphasis on their last names. Simon, whose surname is Peter (Simon Peter) and John, whose surname is Mark (John Mark). The former is referred to as Peter, when being mentioned in the scripture, while the latter is referred to as John.

Possibly though, Peter is called or mentioned by his last name because Jesus gave him this name.
